Daebak Weekly Back-T0-Back Exclusives: Omega X and TXT 💐 It's time to meet the boys of the newly-debuted group Omega X! Plus a special surprise from the quintet TXT at the end of this week's issue 💌 ![]() ![]() Courtesy of Spire Entertainment. The fourth generation of K-Pop is taking over, and the boys of Omega X are determined to be remembered in the movement. Fresh off a debut on June 30, the 11-member group hit the stage with their electric, bass-heavy track "VAMOS" – a trilingual lead for their first mini-album of the same name. With members who have had previous resume experience as idols in other groups, or on competition shows, we sat down with the boys of Omega X to talk about their fresh start and the heights they hope to journey to next.
*** [Steffi] Hi everyone! Do you want to introduce yourselves to our readers?
All: Hi, we are Omega X! We're so excited to do this Q&A with Daebak Weekly!
Members individually: Hi guys, I'm Zen! - Hi, Hwichan - Hi! I'm Hangyeom - My name is Jaehyun - I'm Kevin - My name is Sebin - Hi, I'm Yechan - I'm Jung Hoon - My name is Hyuk - Hi guys, my nam is Taedong - Hi! I'm Jaehan.
Is there a meaning behind your group name?
Hangyeom: Omega (Ω), the last letter of the Greek alphabet, symbolizes the end, and the letter X refers to the unknown. Combined, Omega X symbolizes our goal to become the “final boss” in K-Pop.
What's the most exciting thing about this group to you?
Sebin: My favorite thing about this group so far...it’s that I feel so alive and breathing.
Jaehan: Omega X has no leader or official positions for their members. Since there’s no leader, we respect and care for one another, and create synergy to move forward. The lack of positions allows us to showcase our talents in multiple ways.
Hwichan: Witnessing our growth – the members and myself – every day.
Do you have a favorite memory associated with the members? Hyuk: I was so happy every moment with the members, practicing, dancing for the music video and filming the reality show. After meeting the members, I picked up bowling, so my favorite memory is going bowling with the members on our off days.
Taedong: My favorite moments with the members are coming back to our shared house after practice, eating yummy food and talking. YouTube. The title song, "VAMOS", has lyrics in three languages – Korean, English, and Spanish. Can any of you speak Spanish? Is there a language you would like to perform in one day?
Yechan: I haven't learned it yet, but I’d like to study European cultures, including Spanish culture, and visit Europe one day.
Kevin: I’d love to go anywhere. I love to travel and see and listen to a lot of things. Hit us up and we’ll be there.
The title track itself is a very strong, dance-forward song. What impression do you hope "VAMOS" leaves on your listeners, as a first introduction to your music as Omega X?
Jung Hoon: I want to leave a strong impression of Omega X’s "color."
Jaehyun: I want the listeners to go, "Omega X can cover a lot of genres," and give them the trust to fall for Omega X.
What kind of music do you all like to listen to? Tell us your favorite song or genre right now!
Jaehan: It varies but right now I’m into band music. I listen to a lot of DAY6 and Christopher.
Xen: I listen to everything. I mostly listen to hip hop, but I’m also listening to a lot of classical music these days. ![]() Courtesy of Spire Entertainment. What was preparing for debut like – how long has "VAMOS" been in the works? Was there anything really hard about the preparation/training process?
Hwichan: I think we prepared for the title track for about a month. It was hard to get it right, because it was a new genre for me.
Hangyeom: The whole process took about three months. Since the choreography was so powerful and difficult to get right, we worked really hard and long hours for it.
In your first year together, what's a goal you have either for yourself or for the group? What do you want to achieve this year?
Sebin: I’m dying for the rookie award! I’d also like to perform a concert and go on a world tour.
Taedong: I want to inspire people who are about to give up their dreams to see us and realize there’s hope. My goal is to be a role model as a group. I’m confident that we’ll grow as a group to accomplish this by next year around this time.
Are there any idols or celebrities that you have looked up to throughout this process, either as mentors or role models?
Junghoon: BTS’s Jimin sunbaenim (formal honorific)!
Hyuk: Ever since I dreamed of becoming a K-pop idol, EXO’s Kai sunbaenim has been my role model.
Kevin: I don't really have a role model but I hope to be someone else’s role model one day.
We ask everyone this on Daebak Weekly, and I'm interested to hear from young stars with your experience – what does K-pop mean to you right now?
Jaehan: The moment to share our emotions as we listen to the music, perform on stage and watch the stage performance, and the moment for all to become one.
Hangyeom: If you run out of breath, you can’t live. *** You can stream "VAMOS" on all music platforms here. ![]() ❄️ In conversation with: Tomorrow X Together ❄️
A series where we explore the K-Pop world from different perspectives – talking to everyone in the industry, around it, and you! Courtesy of Big Hit Music. This week, BuzzFeed News talked to the sensational idol group, Tomorrow X Together, on their sophomore album "The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE".
The quintent – Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun and Heuning Kai – talked at length about their current state of mind that informed the moody overtones of hits like "0X1=LOVESONG" and "Anti-Romantic", being young adults in a world upended by chaos. The long e-mail conversation and the groups' illuminating answers meant that not everything from the transcript made it into the final piece. But here, only on Daebak Weekly, we are excited to share that with you the rest of that interview. Let's take a look! These are outtaken answers from a full transcript with TXT. Read the BuzzFeed News article for more context.
*** You all worked on lyrics for this album, and RM of BTS also wrote lyrics for "0X1=LOVESONG." Did you learn anything from him about lyric writing? Are there any other important lessons you’ve learned from the BTS members in the years since your debut?
You also have a feature on this song for the first time. What was it like working with Seori?
Your fans often turn to your music for comfort and reassurance. Where do you all find comfort when life is chaotic?
Soobin: Listening to music and having a good time with our members.
Yeonjun: My comfort comes from being with our members. I also enjoy listening to music or watching films.
Beomgyu: I call my family to talk, or I also like to have some time to sit and think by myself.
Taehyun: Working on music gives me a lot of comfort because I can completely immerse myself in the task at hand.
The music video for “Magic” focuses more on the fantasy side of TXT. Can you tell us any fun behind-the-scenes stories from making it?
Soobin: We had some great conversations with the actors dressed as aliens. Our nationalities were different but we all tried our best to speak in the other’s language and I was very touched by that.
Yeonjun: I got to control invisible machines made of air.
Beomgyu: The actors were incredible at their jobs. They were so good that we had so much fun shooting the music video. We also discovered that they’re great at dancing.
Taehyun: The actors were very into their roles so I really felt as though I was in the future.
